CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) National Pub of the Year 2008

We at Dunkles & Jaffa Cakes pride ourselves in bringing our website visitors the very latest news of interest in the brewing world, and we are
particularly pleased to report that on February 16th 2008, while celebrating
Community Pubs Week, CAMRA announced The Old Spot Inn in
Dursley, Gloucestershire as their National Pub of the Year.

Now, having grown up in Gloucestershire, one could accuse me of being biased in bringing you this brilliant news -- and, of course, I AM biased,
but who gives a toss, because it really is a fantastic achievement to win National Pub of the Year.

Each of the 197 CAMRA branches in the UK picked their favourite pub. The 197 winners were then seperated into 16 regional competitions and
then from the 16 winning pubs, a final 4 were chosen. We were then left to sweat it out before a National Champion was picked from the four, with
The Old Spot being the winner.

The criteria for a pub nomination included choice and quality of Real Ales; customer service; quality of food; pub atmosphere; and so on.

I thoroughly recommend you check out their absolutely superb website which can be found at
www.oldspotinn.co.uk  It is choc-o-blok full of photos,
menus, information, whats-on-tap etc. I have taken the liberty of "borrowing" some of their website photos for your viewing below.

Also, at the bottom of this article is their Real Ale menu for 11th February 2008. You want to talk about supporting the independent breweries, then
take a look at the Real Ale menu at The Old Spot.  InBev, cry your eyes out !

Myself and Lady Deborah are planning a trip back to the Mother Country in Autumn 2009. As we will be renting a cottage in Bredon
(Worcestershire), you can bloody bet The Old Spot Inn will be on our agenda -- you have been warned !

Cheers !
