Tim & Colleen review Jaffa Cakes
Today we were presented with a box of "real" Jaffa Cakes from the returning Ian, Patrick, and Mark (weekend at the Great Lakes Brewery...to which I will be attending in August). I have not had the opportunity to sample the English delicacy. Actually, I had never heard of them until Ian mentioned them as a title to our review publication. So, Colleen and I returned to our humble abode, brewed a little tea (served with milk) and enjoyed 2 shortbread biscuits and sampled 2 each of the JAFFA CAKES...and... Tim says: I love 'em! I would relate them to an American 'Nilla Wafer with a thin layer of candied orange slices covered with a thin layer of semi-sweet chocolate. A tasty little treat, indeed! Colleen says: More like a "candy cake"...the chocolate compliments the orange nicely. The orange isn't necessarily "squidgy" as the box indicates, more like an orange jello. Smooth on the tonque, excellent with tea or any beverage for that matter. It is NOT a cookie or biscuit..it IS a cake!!! Biscuits are crunchy and not light and fluffy/chewey...like cake and all that shit!!!!!! To me it makes my mouth say, "MORE!"

To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine.. and those who don't. To paraphrase Ben Franklin, "In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is freedom, in water there is bacteria." In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 liter of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. coli) - bacteria found in feces. In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop. However, we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting. Remember: Water = Poop, Wine = Health. Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water and be full of shit. There is no need to thank me for this valuable information: I'm doing it as a public service.
